A Little Catch Up....
Following on from my last post, I’ve been looking back on the year, and recognised that it’s been a bit quiet around here… 🙈
If you’ve been wondering where I’ve been, the honest answer is that life (mainly), crafting, and all the little things that happen behind the scenes have rather taken over, and keeping up with social media and blogging has slipped down the priority list.
Before I knew it, weeks had turned into months, and I’d become one of those people who thinks, “I really must get back to that!”… and then somehow doesn’t, and it’s suddenly November! 😂
But whilst things might have been a little quiet online, the creativity certainly hasn’t stopped.
There have still been ideas brewing, things being made, new designs taking shape, and plenty of little projects keeping me busy. So, I thought it was about time I popped back in, said hello, and started sharing a little more of what’s been happening at Mixarray.
After all, one of the nicest things about having a small creative business is connecting with the people who enjoy what I make. And I’d really like to get back to doing more of that!
So, What’s Been Happening at Mixarray?
For anyone new here, Mixarray is my little creative corner - my ‘happy place’ as Ray (my other half, and ‘partner in crime’) puts it - where I get to turn ideas into decorative pieces, thoughtful gifts, and those lovely little pieces that make everyday life feel a bit more special.
From Decorative Tealights, Caddys, and Slate Coasters to meditation stones, Mugs, and Seasonal creations, I love making things that will hopefully brighten someone’s day!
Some pieces are perfect for your own home, whilst others are made with gifting in mind. And, of course, there’s always something new I’m experimenting with because apparently, I can never have too many ideas on the go! 😉
One of the things I want to try and do more of going forward is to share the process behind the products, the inspiration behind new designs, and the occasional behind-the-scenes glimpse of what goes on in ‘The Gin Bar’ (IYKYK) - The Shack!
Because there’s usually a lot more to a finished piece than meets the eye!
🎄 Wait… Is It Really Nearly Christmas?!
2026 has really whizzed by for a lot of us!
Suddenly the nights are drawing in, and the festive season is swiftly creeping up on us. Mince pies, bottles of ‘Baileys’, & tubs of chocolates are already taking pride of place at the front of all the supermarkets, Christmas Ads will soon be popping up on our screens, and I’ve heard more than a few people asking when is too early to put up their Christmas Tree! (Is it ever too early??) Gift lists are being made, and there’s that sudden realisation that we only have a few weeks now (or are you already ‘counting sleeps’?) until the big day!
If you enjoy giving something a little different, handmade and individually created pieces can be a lovely alternative to the usual high-street, mass-produced gifts.
And the best bit? You don't necessarily need to spend a fortune to find something thoughtful.
🎁 Christmas Gift Ideas with a Little Personality
If you're looking for inspiration for those people who are tricky to buy for, here are a few ideas to get you thinking.
For the home lover
Decorative slate coasters can make lovely gifts for someone who enjoys adding personality to their space. They're practical, too, whilst still being a little different from the everyday essentials.
For someone who deserves a little moment of calm
Meditation stones make thoughtful little gifts for anyone who appreciates having a small reminder to pause, take a breath, and enjoy a moment to themselves. Their smooth surfaces and soft velvet bases make them lovely tactile pieces to keep close at hand.
For the person who already seems to have everything
You know the one! The person who is impossible to buy for because, if they want something, they've usually bought it for themselves already.
This is where something unique, decorative, or handmade can be a welcome surprise. It doesn't have to be big or extravagant; it just needs to feel like you've chosen it with them in mind.
Of course, I'll be sharing more creations that might make lovely Christmas gifts as we head towards December (every available work surface in The Shack is currently strewn with items on their way to being finished!), so keep an eye out!
And if you're shopping for several people, lots of little independent makers in one space can be a great source of different ideas, helping you find gifts that feel personal rather than predictable.
🛍️ So why not come and say ‘Hello’ at a Craft Fayre!
There's something special about being able to meet people face to face, chat about what they like, show them the details of a piece, and hear what they think. It's a lovely change from the online world, where everything can sometimes feel a little distant.
Craft Fayres are an ideal opportunity to discover independent makers, find unusual gifts, and pick up something you might not come across walking the high street.
So if you prefer to see things in person before buying, come and see us at one of the Fayres we’ll be at in the next few weeks!
We’ll be at:
Smith’s Garden Centre, Baginton CV8 3BA
10am until 3pm on Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd November.
Priory Theatre, Kenilworth CV8 1BN
6.30pm until 9pm on Friday 27th November
And if you do happen to spot us, please come over and say hello. I'm much happier chatting about crafty things than trying to think of something clever to post on social media! 😂
Let's Get Chatting Again!
One of my aims for the coming weeks is to be a little more present online, sharing more of what I'm making, the things that inspire me, new ideas, and the occasional glimpse of the reality of running a creative business.
I'd also love this to feel like a conversation rather than simply a place where I show you products.
So, let's start with a question.
Are you someone who loves finding unusual, handmade Christmas gifts, or do you prefer to stick to tried-and-tested favourites?
I'd genuinely love to know!
If you've been following Mixarray for a while, thank you for sticking around, even when I've been a little quiet. If you're new here, welcome! I'm really glad you've found us.
There's lots I'd love to share (I just need a few ‘spare’ minutes to get my head around the technical side of things!), plenty of creativity still to come, and a festive season to get ready for.
So, here's to a fresh start, a little more connecting, some lovely Christmas inspiration, and hopefully seeing a few of you at upcoming Craft Fayres.
Let the Christmas countdown begin! 🎄✨
